Professional Plastering

Services in Singapore

Walls and ceilings take more daily wear than most people realise. Over time, cracks form, plaster loosens, and surfaces become too rough or uneven to paint properly. When that happens, the problem is rarely cosmetic – it usually means the wall surface underneath needs proper attention before anything else can be done.

MRK Renovation provides plastering services in Singapore for homes and commercial spaces that need walls and ceilings restored to a clean, smooth, paint-ready condition. Whether you are renovating an HDB flat, refreshing a condominium unit, or preparing a commercial space, our team handles the surface work correctly the first time so you avoid costly rework later.

ABOUT PROFESSIONAL PLASTERING

Trusted Plastering

Contractor in Singapore

Choosing the right plastering contractor in Singapore matters more than most homeowners expect. Poor plastering work does not fail immediately – it shows up weeks later as hairline cracks, hollow spots, or paint that peels because the surface beneath was never properly prepared. By that point, the original contractor is often difficult to reach.

Our team understands the conditions that affect plastered surfaces in Singapore. Humidity, temperature changes between air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned spaces, and the age of different wall substrates all influence how plaster behaves. We account for these factors when selecting materials and application methods, not after problems develop.

Every project is handled by our trained in-house plasterers. We do not outsource work to subcontractors we have not vetted. Before any application begins, we assess the existing surface honestly and tell you what needs to be done – and what does not. If a surface only needs skim coating rather than full replastering, we will say so. Our goal is to give you an accurate picture of the work so you can make an informed decision without pressure.

We communicate clearly throughout the project, keep to agreed schedules, and take full responsibility for the work we complete.

Surface Assessment & Preparation

Loose material, dust and damaged sections are identified, cleaned and prepared for repair.

Plaster Application & Levelling

Suitable plaster is applied and carefully levelled to correct cracks, holes and uneven surfaces.

Sanding & Final Inspection

The repaired area is smoothed, checked and prepared for primer, paint or other finishes.

Common Plastering Problems We Solve

Cracked and Flaking Plaster

Cracks in plaster are not always minor. Fine hairline cracks are often caused by normal building movement, but wide or recurring cracks can indicate bond failure between the plaster and the wall substrate. Flaking occurs when moisture gets behind the surface layer and breaks the adhesion. Both conditions worsen over time if left untreated, making damaged plaster repair necessary before repainting.

Uneven and Rough Wall Surfaces

Walls that feel bumpy, wavy, or visibly uneven create problems when painting. Even with multiple coats of paint, texture shows through and the result looks untidy. Wall levelling corrects surface irregularities so the finished wall is flat, smooth, and ready to accept paint or other finishes without additional work.

Holes, Dents and Surface Damage

Impact damage, old fixture removals, and poorly patched repairs leave holes and indentations that are difficult to hide. Wall crack patching and surface repair done properly means the repaired area blends seamlessly with the surrounding wall, with no visible lines or raised edges once dry.

Loose or Peeling Ceiling Plaster

Ceiling plaster that sounds hollow when tapped, or that is visibly separating from the concrete above, is a safety concern as well as a cosmetic issue. Hollow plaster repair requires removing unstable sections and replastering properly so the ceiling is stable, flat, and secure before any finishing is applied.

Our Plastering Services in Singapore

Interior Wall Plastering

Interior wall plastering covers new plaster application on bare masonry, concrete walls, and block walls inside residential and commercial spaces. Produces a flat, consistent base surface suitable for painting, skim coating, or other interior finishes.

Ceiling Plastering

Ceiling plastering restores or reskins concrete ceilings that are rough, stained, or damaged. Includes surface preparation, plaster application, and levelling to achieve a smooth ceiling finish that is visually clean from below.

Skim Coating

Skim coating applies a thin final layer over an existing plastered or concrete surface to eliminate minor imperfections and produce a genuinely smooth, paint-ready finish. Commonly used in BTO renovation and condo refurbishment where walls are structurally sound but the surface texture needs refining.

Wall Crack and Hole Repair

Targeted plaster crack filling and wall patching for localised damage. Suitable for walls that are otherwise in good condition but have isolated cracks, holes, or impact marks that need to be addressed before repainting.

Damaged Plaster Repair

Repair of plaster that has bubbled, hollowed, or delaminated from the substrate. Old plaster is removed where necessary, the underlying surface is treated, and new plaster is applied to restore a stable, bonded surface.

Wall and Ceiling Surface Levelling

A wall levelling service for surfaces that are noticeably uneven, bowed, or out of plumb. Levelling uses skim coat, render, or a combination of both to bring the surface back to a consistent plane before finishing.

Plasterboard Joint Finishing

Finishing of plasterboard and drywall joints using joint compound and tape to produce a seamless surface. Eliminates visible seams and fastener marks so the completed wall looks and accepts paint the same as a solid plastered wall.

Surface Preparation Before Painting

Full wall surface preparation covering crack filling, priming, skim coating, and sanding to deliver a ready-to-paint wall surface. Particularly important for older properties where the existing surface condition would otherwise compromise paint results.

Clear from day one

Our Plastering Process

A disciplined sequence designed to achieve adhesion, consistency and long-term performance.

Site Inspection and Surface Assessment

We visit the site, examine the existing wall and ceiling condition, identify damaged or unstable areas, and assess the substrate type. This step determines the right materials and method before any work begins.

Surface Preparation and Damage Repair

Loose, hollow, or damaged plaster is removed. Cracks are cleaned out, primed, and filled. The substrate is treated so new plaster will bond correctly and not fail prematurely.

Plaster Application and Levelling

Plaster or skim coat is applied in controlled passes, built up to the correct thickness, and levelled to produce an even, consistent surface across the full area.

Drying, Sanding and Final Inspection

The applied plaster is allowed to dry fully. Any minor surface irregularities are sanded down, and we do a final walkthrough to confirm the surface is ready for painting or further finishing.

Why choose us

Quality Workmanship

and Warranty.

MRK Renovation stands behind the plastering work we complete. Our workmanship warranty covers defects that arise from the application itself – issues such as delamination, cracking along plaster joints, or surface failure that result from how the work was done rather than external causes.

The workmanship warranty is separate from any material warranty provided by the product supplier. Materials are affected by conditions outside our control, such as structural movement in the building, water ingress from an external source, or mechanical damage after handover – these fall outside what the workmanship warranty covers.

If a covered issue occurs during the warranty period, contact us directly. We will assess the problem, confirm whether it falls within the warranty scope, and carry out the necessary remedial work without additional cost to you. We do not pass covered warranty issues to third parties.

After handover, our team remains reachable for any questions or concerns about the completed work. We treat post-project support as part of the service, not an afterthought.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Singapore property owners should know before arranging professional plastering services.

Plastering services in Singapore are typically priced by square foot, and the final cost depends on the surface area involved, the condition of the existing walls, and the type of work required. Skim coating generally costs less than full replastering. Localised crack repair is priced differently from a full-room treatment. We provide a detailed written quotation after a site assessment so you know exactly what you are paying for before work begins.

Most residential plastering projects - covering one to three rooms - are completed within two to four working days. Larger areas, extensive damage repair, or projects requiring multiple coats with drying time between applications will take longer. We give you a realistic timeline at the quoting stage, not after work has started. Drying time is factored into the schedule so you are not left waiting after we have left site.

Plastering applies a full layer of cement or gypsum plaster directly onto masonry, concrete, or blockwork. It builds up the wall surface and creates the base for finishing. Skim coating is a thin finishing layer applied over an already-plastered or concrete surface to refine the texture and produce a smooth, paint-ready result. Skim coating cannot substitute for plastering on bare or highly damaged walls, but is the right solution when the existing surface is structurally sound and only needs smoothing.

It depends on the condition of the painted surface and how well the paint is bonded. In some cases, a bonding agent can be applied to help the new plaster adhere. In others, the existing paint needs to be removed first to ensure proper bonding. Applying plaster directly over poorly adhered paint is a common cause of premature failure. Our team assesses the surface during the site visit and advises the appropriate preparation method before any work begins.

New plaster should be allowed to cure fully before paint is applied. This typically takes a minimum of four weeks for cement plaster, though the actual drying time depends on the thickness of the application, ambient humidity, and ventilation conditions. Painting over plaster that has not dried sufficiently causes moisture to get trapped beneath the paint film, leading to bubbling, peeling, and failure. We advise on the appropriate waiting period for your specific project after the plastering work is complete.

Yes. Plaster repair in Singapore is one of the most common requests we receive, and it covers a range of conditions - from fine hairline cracks to wide structural cracks, from small holes left by removed fixtures to larger sections of delaminated or hollow plaster. We assess each area, remove unstable material where necessary, and carry out the repair using the appropriate filler, plaster, or skim coat so the finished surface is stable and seamless.
